Arsenal are prepared to launch a move to sign Celtic attacker Moussa Dembele if the Gunners are forced to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer, according to the Daily Star
Sanchez dropped a big hint that he’s looking to leave the club after telling journalists at the weekend that he wants to play in the UEFA Champions League – something the Gunners can’t offer him this coming season.
It’s increasingly likely that the forward will refuse to extend his contract, so the North London club will be faced with a hard decision as to whether they force him to run out his last year and potentially lose the superstar for nothing or sell this summer.
It would be a big risk to let the Chilean go into the upcoming season without extending his contract, and it’s unlikely the club can allow a £50m+ star to go for nothing next season, so a transfer during this summer transfer window is on the cards.
Undoubtedly, Sanchez’s departure would leave a big hole in the team, and according to The Sun, Arsene Wenger has set his sights on bringing in Dembele to fill the void.
Dembele, 20, enjoyed a brilliant campaign north of the border last season having netted 32 goals for Scottish side Celtic following his move from London club Fulham last summer and the publication says the forward is valued at around £30m.
If the Gunners were successful in signing Dembele, he’d become Arsenal’s third signing of the summer following the signing of Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.
