Everton star defender Ross Barkley appears destined to leave Goodison Park this summer after emerging as a target for a handful of top English clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United.
And in a new development, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal has joined the race for the signature of the England international.
The Englishman has just 12 months remaining on his contract with the toffees and he is expected to make a move this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are understood to have long-held an interest in the defender, but they won’t get him without a fight.
Earlier this week, there were reports that Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in the 23-year-old, and now, Arsene Wenger’s side have also entered the race.
The Evening Standard revealed that Arsenal have been monitoring the situation also, as Wenger only been able to bring in just two new players this summer – Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette.
Additionally, the contract of some of the current Arsenal players will get expired soon, and their future at the Emirates remains uncertain.
The likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Per Mertesacker, Kieran Gibbs, and Carl Jenkinson will run out of contract come next year, and are yet to sign a contract extension.
As for Barkley, it is understood that Everton wants as much as £50million for him after selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £75M.
