According to Charles Watts, Dan Crowley is on the brink of switching from Arsenal to Dutch club, Willem II.
Crowley, 19, was signed from Aston Villa in the summer of 2014 after some decent outings for the youth academy saw the wonderkid attract the interest of scouts from Premier League club Arsenal. The midfielder, who was once nicknamed the “new Wilshere” has found playing chances hard to come by at the North London club.
The starlet went out on loan to Oxford at the start of last season and played eleven matches in the League One. The young midfielder scored three goals during his time at the League One club before he joined Go Ahead Eagles of Holland’s Eredivisie for the remainder of the campaign, following speculations of character problems while at League One club Oxford.
Crowley made a decent impression at Go Ahead Eagles, scoring two goals and creating two assists in 16 matches. The wonderkid had been a target for clubs like Fulham and German side Hannover, but the midfielder has decided to stay back in the Dutch league in a move to get regular football to aid his development.
Crowley is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Dutch side, subject to a medical.
