Antonio Conte: I Don’t Care If This Chelsea Player Is Unhappy

Chelsea senior player John Terry has been told there will be no room for sentiment during the final months of his career at Stamford Bridge.

The 36-year-old will be out of contract at the end of this season and he has found himself on the fringes in the club.

Terry could however be handed a rare start in the FA Cup fifth round clash against Wolves – which would be his first appearance since the fourth round clash with Brentford.

And the game also will give Chelsea boss Conte the chance to use some of his other second-string players.

But the former Juventus coach insists his No.1 priority is chasing down the league and cup double – and not just maintaining a happy dressing room.

“We want to go in this competition to try to fight. Not to find a solution to make someone happy”

The Italian coach who praised Terry’s reaction to finding himself out of the starting line-up, said: “I think that it is important for the group, for the players that I have always to try to make the best decision for the team.

“The FA Cup is a great competition. We want to go in this competition to try to fight until the end to try to win. Not to find a solution to make someone happy.

“It is important to understand when you stay in a great team the most important thing, the target, is to win, not to try to have 21 players happy and you don’t win nothing.

“Because the owner does not ask this, to make 21 players happy.

“I want to be happy, but I am happy if we win. Not if we lose and to have 21 players happy.

“To be happy we go to the theatre, the cinema or to see a film. Now we stay to work very hard, to try to improve, to try to win.

“For me, I repeat, it is important to work on different aspects to try to increase the potential of my players.”

Meanwhile the boss insists that there will be no discussions about a new contract for striker Diego Costa until the end of this season.

“I think now it is very important to be focused on the present and not to look so far forward.

“At the end of the season we will see the situation. I’m confident (he will stay).” he said.
