There are new suggestions that Andy Murray could pull out of the Washington Open after winning his last game few hours ago.
Despite making the quarter finals of the tournament, the former world number one is considering shying away from the clash.
Murray underwent a hip surgery some months ago that dipped him down the world rankings, but he was able to reach the quarter-finals of a tournament for the first time in months after beating Romanian Marius Copil.
The Scot broke down in tears after winning Marius, and he explained that it was simply ’emotions’ being let out.
Murray is expected to clash with Minaur in the next round of the competition – but he was unfortunate not to have been given much time to recuperate.
He is to play against Alex less than 18 hours after his duel with Copil, but considering his bitter complaint, he could be forced to pull out.
Andy wasn’t pleased with playing and finishing his last game at 3am when everyone should be sleeping and resting, and he said it is not good for ‘nobody’ (including for the fans and for the TV stations).
Murray said playing with Alex in the evening is like ‘playing two matches in a day’, which is something he’s ‘disappointed’ with.
