Ander Herrera Believes That Manchester United Are On The Right Path, Backs Zlatan To Succeed

Manchester United Midfielder, Ander Herrera believes that the team is still heading in the right direction despite their goalless draw with Burnley over the weekend. Herrera was sent off in the second half after receiving a second yellow card, a match United dominated and saw manager Jose Mourinho sent to the stands.

The result has created doubts about United’s title challenge as they are now eight points off the top of the table. Reflecting on the match, Herrera feel it was a match they deserved to win. He said:

“We have to keep going, we cannot cry or complain, we just have to keep playing the way we did today, against Liverpool, Stoke and Fenerbahce. I think we are in the right way but today is one of the toughest days of my career because we deserved to win 6-0, 7-0, but this is football.”

Herrera also had glowing words for his team mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker has been on a bad patch as his goals have dried up. In the match against Burnley, Zlatan wasted a lot of chances ensuring that United remained with only one win in their last seven premier league matches.

Herrera though believes it is only a matter of time before the striker rediscovers his menacing form. He said

“I think if one player can get back and pass this moment it’s him because of his attitude, his character, the way he works,” Herrera said “I have no doubt he is going to score a lot of goals for us but it is not only him, we have missed a lot of chances, not only him.

“He is giving us a lot of things for the team. Some of the chances we created came because of him, so we cannot tell him anything. We have to say that we have one of the best strikers in the world and his attitude, his character, is top.”
