Alvaro Morata Reveals Who Made Him Join Chelsea This Summer

Chelsea summer signing Alvaro Morata has revealed he never thought he would become a Chelsea player until he held talks with the club’s manager Antonio Conte this summer.

The former Real Madrid striker has made an impressive start to his task of filling the void opened by his countryman Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge.

Following his club-record move during the summer window, he has been able to score three goals in the English top flight for his new side.

This however could have been something very different for the Spain international, and he could have found himself elsewhere other than Stamford Bridge this season.

He emerged as a top target for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United and was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, following the injury of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The red devils all of a sudden switched their full attention to Belgian star player Romelu Lukaku, and they completed a big-money deal for the huge player in the twinkle of an eye.

And Alvaro has admitted he thought Lukaku would be moving to west London, and that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte played a big role in persuading him to Chelsea, while Romelu ended up at Manchester United.

Speaking to Daily Mail, the 24-year-old also made it known that he received various offers during the summer from various clubs in various leagues, and that not only Chelsea and Manchester United were interested in securing his services. He however revealed his conversation with Antonio Conte and hailed the influence of the Italian boss in his decision on moving to Stamford Bridge.
