Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata proved to be the matchwinner for the Spanish national team after he scored twice to give his country a 2-0 win over Malta.
Morata scored either side of the halftime interval to lead the Spanish team to a vital away win over Malta in their second game of the Euro 2020 qualifiers in Group F.
The Chelsea loanee scored the opening goal of the game just after the half-hour mark before he added a second goal in the 73rd minute to wrap up the win for the former European champions.
The straightforward win over Malta was enough to take Spain two points clear of nearest challengers Sweden in Group F.
In the other games in Group F, Norway and Sweden served up a six-goal thriller as both sides shared the points via a 3-3 draw while Romania recorded their first win of the Euro 2020 qualifiers with a comprehensive 4-1 win over the Faroe Islands.
Alvaro Morata is on loan at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea having joined the Rojiblancos during the last winter transfer window.
The former Juventus and Real Madrid striker is expected to spend the next 18 months at Atletico Madrid with the option to make the loan move a permanent one.
