AFCON Qualifiers: CAF – Sierra Leone vs Ghana will not be rescheduled

The body in charge of football in the African continent, CAF – Confederation of African Football, has called off the AFCON qualifiers match between Sierra Leone and Ghana.

CAF in a statement disclosed that the match was cancelled because Sierra Leone failed to meet up to the conditions to uplift the ban placed on the country’s FA by world football body, FIFA.

The African football body have hinted that even if the ban is lifted the match will not be rescheduled.

But multiple reports have confirmed that CAF are yet to decide whether the points from the game will be awarded to Ghana.

Also, the body are yet to decide on what will be done about the two qualifiers matches Sierra Leone played against Ethiopia and Kenya.

CAF in a statement said that ‘for the last two qualifying days for the Total African Cup of Nations 2019, the Caf Executive Committee will decide in due course depending on the Federation of Sierra Leone statement.’

According to a report, Sierra Leone got banned by FIFA because of the sanctions imposed on the SLFA President Isha Johansen and the General Secretary, Christopher Kamara.

FIFA has called on the Sierra Leone government to reinstate the two before they can be allowed to participate in international football.
