Done deal: Liverpool complete their first deal of the year

Liverpool have finally been involved in the ongoing winter market as they sanctioned Dominic Solanke’s £17m move to Bournemouth last night.

The young England striker struggled for game-time throughout his stay at the Anfield Stadium as he featured in just 27 games( just six starts).

The player was initially linked with a move to Crystal Palace, that was according to Sky Sports on Tuesday, but the deal fell through as the Eagles manager Roy Hodgson wasn’t certain about the player’s fitness.

After a very brief discussion with Liverpool and Solanke’s representatives, the Cherries reached an agreement with the Reds and they couldn’t wait before uncovering the youngster as their latest addition.

While reacting to the player’s switch to his team, Bournemouth’s manager Eddie Howe expressed his joy to see the England youth international join his team.

According to the manager, the 21-year-old is technically sound and he will add something different to his frontline.

He said: “Dominic is technically gifted, very athletic and
has the physical profile that will give us something different in our front line. He has done very well for England at various age groups, has a huge amount of potential and I’m really excited
about working with him.”

Bournemouth are currently in worst form but Howe will hope that the youngster serves as the inspirational figure his players desperately need to return back to winning ways.

Solanke was very prolific in front of goal during his days with Chelsea youth teams, however, he has failed to reach his full potentials since his promotion to first-team football.

Liverpool also sanctioned Nathaniel Clyne’s loan move to the Liberty Stadium for the rest of the campaign.

The England defender was pushed down the pecking order at Anfield due to injuries but he will hope to bring his career back on track under Howe’s watch.
