Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Green has announced his retirement from football on the back of the Europa League title triumph earlier this week.
The former England international shot stopper made the announcement earlier on Friday as he said that the Europa League final victory over London rivals Arsenal was the perfect way to end his football career spanning 23 years and over 650 professional games.
The 39-year-old was an unused substitute as Arsenal lost 4-1 to his Chelsea team who ended the season with a trophy at the fifth time of asking.
Chelsea kicked off the season with a 2-0 loss to Premier League champions Manchester City in the Community Shield before losing to the same opponents via penalties in the Carabao Cup final after a goalless affair at the end of both regulation time and extra time.

Manchester City won the league while Chelsea finished third before the Europa League success over Arsenal.
In the FA Cup, Robert Green and Chelsea were dumped out in the fifth round by Manchester United via a 2-0 loss at home.
Robert Green last played for England national team in 2012.
The former West Ham United and Norwich City goalkeeper signed for Chelsea on a free transfer last summer upon his release from Huddersfield Town.
