Liverpool vs. Bayern Munich; Predicted starting eleven for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side ahead of the Anfield showdown.
It’s a frenetic night in Europe as Liverpool does battle with Bavarian giants Bayern Munich in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. It promises to be an intriguing evening of football across the globe as rejuvenated Liverpool side clash with Bayern Munich who is leading the race in the German Bundesliga.
The match will obviously see certain personnel changes among both as injuries and (match) suspension may prove the case here.
As both sides take to the pitch, we evaluate the possible starting eleven for Liverpool ahead of the Bayern Munich showdown at Anfield.
Goalkeeping
The responsibility will once again fall on the Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson as he will be saddled with the mandate to keep the visitors’ Bayern at bay for 90 minutes.
This is what he’s done in recent weeks as he kept a clean sheet against Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth side in Reds 3-0 win.

It’s a pity that Dejan Lovren is a doubt (injured) and may not be able to stake a claim in the starting eleven. The same goes for influential center back Virgil Van Dijk who is suspended for this fixture.

Jurgen Klopp may well have to make do with Joel Matip and Fabinho (who is available for selection) in the center back slots.
At the full back, Trent Alexander-Arnold returns at right back possibly ahead of aging veteran James Milner while Andrew Robertson slots in at the left back position.
Liverpool backs four: Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho and Andrew Robertson.
Midfield
This is a critical area ahead of the clash between Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Bayern Munich at Merseyside, Anfield.
Naby Keita is beginning to find his form of late and with his conversance with the Bayern side during his spell in the Bundesliga, he will likely start get the nod to start against the German giants.
This will probably see the midfielder line-up alongside hardworking Georginio Wijnaldum and the obvious one; the skipper Jordan Henderson.
The Liverpool captain will be expected to rekindle Steven Gerrard’s UEFA Champions League performance in games of this magnitude (special nights in European football) as Bayern visits Liverpool.
They complete the midfield three for Liverpool which is comprised of Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson.
Attack
The front three picks themselves in the person of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane. They have been explosive all season and deserve to keep their places despite concerns about the latter (Firmino) who has fitness worries.
This sees his potential replacement Divock Origi drop to the bench while Xherdan Shaqiri comes off the bench to wreak havoc against his former (Bayern Munich) side as he understudies the opposition on tactical grounds.
This sees Jurgen Klopp line-up Liverpool in a 4-3-3 formation.
The possible (Full) starting eleven for Liverpool, Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Andrew Robertson; Naby Keita, Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane.
Manager: Jurgen Klopp.
