Despite assurance by Manchester United that Juan Mata will be handed a new contract at the club, that is yet to happen with the player reported to be monitoring the situation and not ready to make the wrong decision.
ESPN reports that the Spanish playmaker is on Arsenal radar and the Gunners are willing to do business as soon as possible in the winter transfer window but the Reds are unwilling to sell the player to their rivals.
Mata is also believed to be pushing for a move away from the Old Trafford in a bid to unite with the Arsenal boss Unai Emery, having both worked together back in Valencia.
The former Valencia star looks unhappy at the Old Trafford and that has affected his form this season which is a major concern for the club fans who see the Spaniard as one of the best at the club.
Mata is running out on age and he is believed to be interested in making more marks before his retirement from active football.
There is no doubt that Mata will fit into the new pressing style of play at the Emirates Stadium in addition to being happy at the club which is important to his performance on the field.
