Chelsea make Brazilian decision despite Manchester United interest ahead of January transfer

Willian

According to report, Chelsea have decided they won’t be selling Brazilian Willian amid speculations linking him with a move to Premier League side Manchester United this January.

As per Le 10 Sport, this also means Chelsea won’t be pushing ahead with a transfer for Paris Saint-Germain star Lucas Moura, who could be moving to the Chinese Super League in January.

The French publication explains that Willian’s Brazilian mate has been considered to replace him at Stamford Bridge, with the Manchester Evening News claiming Manchester United tactician Jose Mourinho had been in contact with his old side about snapping him up.

Still, the Chelsea star has been a prominent player for the Blues down the years and his form recently has perhaps persuaded Italian tactician Antonio Conte to stick with the winger for a little longer.

Willian, 29, has scored five goals and made two assists for Antonio Conte’s team this campaign, despite not always being a first-team player.

The Premier League Champions could do with that kind of experienced player on the substitute bench, with his quality and work rate making him a rumoured transfer target for the Red Devils.

Lucas Moura is now much down in the squad’s pecking order with the summer arrivals of Brazilian star Neymar from Barcelona and Kylian Mbappe up front.
