Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has conceded defeat in his pursuit of Inter Milan winger, Ivan Perisic.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for the Croatian winger since March after Mourinho was spotted in Zagreb during an international break sparking reports that he was on a transfer mission which he swiftly dismissed.
However, Manchester United have been on the trail of the 28-year-old since the end of last season with suggestions that the player is also keen to move to the Old Trafford after holding positive talks with the club.
But Inter Milan have been adamant on allowing Perisic leave the San Siro without a fight and have demanded United pay £48.2 million for the services of the winger, rejecting three bids from the English giants.
Amid speculations that United will make a last-ditch attempt to sign Ivan Perisic, Mourinho has now moved to dismiss such reports, claiming they have ended their pursuit of the winger.
The United boss told Premium Sport: ‘That’s football,’
‘If I was playing against Inter tomorrow I’d want to win.
‘They’re strong, they put up a good defence to keep someone who’s an important player for them. That’s football.’
The Europa League holders are said to have switched targets and are now pursuing a midfielder who is also capable of playing at right-back.
