After beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the premier league last Saturday at Old Trafford, Manchester United are ready to welcome Benfica from Portugal for their next Champions League group stage game.
The club’s boss Jose Mourinho has some decisions to make in the Tuesday night game that can qualify his side for the knockout stages.
Benfica are sitting bottom of the group, but Jose believes the Portuguese giants are one of the strongest clubs Man United have played in the group stages.
Despite how important the Champions League game is for Mourinho, the former Chelsea manager won’t forget he will be playing his former side at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in the premier league, and is likely to rest some of his top players for the game against Antonio Conte’s side by rotating his starting XI today.
Mourinho is expected to feature the likes of Romero, Tuanzebe and McTominay, giving rest to De Gea, Antonio Valencia and Rashford.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Michael Carrick, Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are not yet back from injuries, and won’t be featuring for their club on Tuesday night.
Here is the 4-2-3-1 Starting XI Mourinho is likely to field against Benfica.
GK – Romero
DL – Young
DC – Bailly
DC – Lindelof
DR – Tuanzebe
DM – Matic
MC – McTominay
AL – Martial
AC – Mkhitaryan
AR – Mata
