Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has denied claims he is keen on signing Chelsea defender David Luiz, labelling the claims as ‘wrong’ sd reported by the Evening Standard.
The 30-year-old has only played 13 matches for Chelsea this campaign, amid speculations of a fall out with tactician Antonio Conte, and was speculated to be on Wenger’s radar; however, the Arsenal tactician has squashed speculations of a possible transfer for the Brazil international centre-half.
Arsenal are believed to be keen on adding to their defensive ranks during the winter transfer window, but won’t be bringing in David Luiz, who has been sidelined since November ending with a knee problem.
The French boss is still believed to be trying to lure the trio of Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, and Alexis Sanchez to all pen new contracts with Arsenal, who will all be free agents and could leave the Emirates for free in June if they don’t open a new contract.
Express Sport claim the defender is a target for the Gunners as Wenger looks to reinforce his backline this month.
Luiz has since lost his place in the Chelsea starting lineup to young Denmark international defender Andreas Christensen.
However, the Brazilian seemed happy in training at Cobham on Wednesday as the Blues prepared for the London derby that ended 2-2 at the Emirates.
