Chelsea wing back Victor Moses has stated that he has never had a manager like current boss Antonio Conte under whom he has thrived in an unfamiliar role this season.
The 25-year old Nigerian international is enjoying a new lease of life under the former Siena and Juventus boss and has scored three league goals already in addition to winning the Fans’ Player of the Month for November despite being converted from a winger to wing back in the Stamford Bridge outfit’s new 3-4-3 formation.
Moses, who helped his country to a 3-1 win over Algeria with a brace in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, showed praises on his manager for the impact he has had on his game in a recent interview with Sky Sports. He said: “[Conte] came up to me and said, ‘You know what, I like your football. I don’t want you to go out on loan this year.”
“That gave me a big boost. I thought, ‘It’s good to have a manager like this, speaking to players, I’ve never really had it before at Chelsea.” he added.
The former Crystal Palace and Wigan star further reflected on his past few years at the club as follows:
“The toughest times were in pre-season; you know you’ve done very well and someone comes up to you and says, ‘No, you’re not in his plans, you’ve got to go on loan.”
“When a manager doesn’t have any interest in you, you can see that as a player.
“There’s no point hanging around if you’re not going to play, that’s why I went on loan.
“But, when you go on loan, it’s not your club, it’s totally different. I was feeling a little bit frustrated.” he concluded.
