£29m Bid Accepted For Liverpool Target

Spanish La Liga club Celta Vigo have reportedly accepted a £29m bid from West Ham United for star striker Maxi Gomez.

This is according to the publication from the stables of Sky Sports which claimed that Maxi Gomez is closing in on a move to the Hammers this summer.

The Uruguayan international had a release clause of £43.3m in his contract with Celta Vigo and the Spanish La Liga outfit initially wanted the full payment but they have decided to reach a compromise with West Ham United on the release clause.

Maxi Gomez had previously attracted the attention of both Barcelona and newly crowned European champions Liverpool.

The 22-year-old will be the fourth West Ham signing this summer and the third from Spain.

Goalkeeper Roberto signed for West Ham United on a free transfer after leaving Spanish La Liga side Espanyol before another shot stopper David Martin joined the Hammers from English Championship outfit Millwall on a two-year deal with the option for a third.

West Ham United then went on to make a big transfer coup to sign Villarreal midfielder Pablo Fornals in a €27m deal. The two-cap Spanish international signed a five-year deal with the East London giants.

The Hammers are still trying to sign midfielder Joan Jordan from another Spanish club Eibar and Alexis Claude-Maurice from French side Lorient.
