According to reports, Premier League giants Manchester United are set to accept a £22million offer from Spanish Champions FC Barcelona for midfield enforcer Ander Herrera this summer transfer window.
Limited playing time at United
The Spain international midfielder has had his playing time limited this campaign, although Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is a huge fan and tends to deploy the 28-year-old in a spoiling role in the midfield in the bigger matches.
However, El Gol Digital claims that Herrera, whose contract expires in the summer of 2019, wants regular starting shirt and is set to return to his Country to fulfil his football ambitions.
Special Barcelona connection could sanction La Liga move
The diminutive midfielder played under current Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde during their spell together at La Liga side Athletic Bilbao before he joined United in 2014.
Herrera has won the UEFA Europa League, Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup during his time at Old Trafford but has made just 12 starts in the League this term and could be available for just £22m.
The Barcelona manager is believed to be eyeing the combative midfielder as a replacement for retiring club legend Andres Iniesta, who is set to move to the Chinese Super League when the season ends.
