Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has talked about how he was unfairly treated by former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho while the Portuguese tactician was the Chelsea manager.
The former Chelsea player told the Player’s Tribune that he was told by Mourinho that he would be the sixth choice for the forward roles.
Kevin De Bruyne also revealed that the former Chelsea boss told him that he would graduate to fifth choice if Juan Manuel Mata leaves the club.
Spanish international Mata was out of favour with Mourinho at that time.
Kevin De Bruyne was at Chelsea for just two years before he left Stamford Bridge to join German Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg in 2014.
He spent just one season in Germany and it was a hugely successful one as he was named the Player of the Year for the 2014/15 campaign.
De Bruyne made a then club-record transfer to Premier League champions Manchester City in 2015 and he has been a key player for the Citizens since then.
He recently returned from injury to play his part in the Citizens’ quest to win four trophies this season.
The Belgian international player produced a man-of-the-match performance at the weekend during the 3-1 away win over London club Crystal Palace in what was a Premier League game played at Selhurst Park.
