AC Milan Midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has apologised for his unsporting behaviour towards Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi during the Italian Serie A game between the two teams on Saturday night.

Seven-time European champions AC Milan boosted their hopes of securing a return to Champions League football via a top-four league finish with a 1-0 home win over Lazio.

Bakayoko is on a season-long loan deal at AC Milan from West London giants Chelsea and he played the entire duration of the match for the Rossoneri.

Ivorian international Franck Kessie scored the only goal of the game from the spot to give AC Milan three points.

The former Atalanta player scored a 79th-minute penalty to lift AC Milan above AS Roma and into fourth place as the battle for the top four places hots up in the Italian Serie A.

Frenchman Bakayoko apologised to Acerbi after he celebrated with his jersey in front of the home supporters and alongside goalscorer Kessie.

Franck Kessie also tendered an apology for the unsporting behaviour.

Tiemoue Bakayoko and Francesco Acerbi had a banter on social media about the game before both sides met at the San Siro.

Acerbi had called the two players out after their unsporting gesture as he said that he just wanted to end their little banter on social media by exchanging shirts after the game.
