Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has revealed how he requested a role change at the club as the Reds eye major honours in two competitions.
Jordan Henderson and Liverpool are chasing honours in both the Champions League and the Premier League.
In his latest interview via Goal, Jordan Henderson revealed that he requested for a change in role from a no 6 to a no 8.
The England international midfielder excelled as a box-to-box midfielder for his country during the March 2019 set of Euro 2020 qualifiers and he has now assumed the same role for his club.
Henderson had been playing as a holding midfielder for Liverpool this season but his success as a box-to-box midfielder for England as well as the performance of Reds teammate Fabinho in a holding midfield role prompted manager Jurgen Klopp to change his role and the player has not looked back since then.
Klopp had to even apologise to Jordan Henderson this week for previously playing him out of position.
Henderson came off the bench to score and provide an assist for Mohamed Salah in his role as Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Southampton 3-1 in their last league game.
He was also superb in the Champions League win over FC Porto on Tuesday night.
The Reds beat their Portuguese opponents 2-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie.
