Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has disclosed that the row between him and Blues Kepa Arrizabalaga was a misunderstanding and that the Spanish international goalkeeper was right.

Sarri was speaking during his post-match press conference after the Carabao Cup final loss to Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Italian tactician was furious after the shot stopper failed to come off for Willy Caballero during the extra time of the Carabao Cup clash.

Sarri said that he thought Kepa was suffering from cramp and that he wanted to remove him for Argentine international shot stopper Caballero.

Kepa gestured to the bench that he wanted to stay on and that appeared to infuriate Italian tactician Sarri who thought his player wanted to continue the game with an injury.

Sarri, however, revealed that Kepa could have relayed his message in a better way and that he’ll speak with him.

Kepa Arrizabalaga became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper when Chelsea activated the £71m release clause in his then contract at Spanish La Liga club Athletic Bilbao.

He joined the Blues at the start of this season but the Spaniard was unable to save the West London giants from suffering defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final via a penalty shootout.
