Merseyside giants Liverpool have been handed a major boost following the news that Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman may not play in their Champions League second leg clash next month.
Liverpool and Bayern Munich played out a goalless draw in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday night and the tie is delicately poised ahead of the second leg scheduled to take place at the Allianz Arena on March 13.
Bayern Munich will likely be without the aforementioned Coman after he sustained a hamstring injury during their league win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
Kingsley Coman pulled up shortly after coming as a second half substitute as Bayern moved level on points with league leaders and Der Klassiker rivals Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table.
Spanish international Javier Martinez scored the only goal of the game to give the Bavarian giants a 1-0 win at home to Hertha Berlin on Saturday evening.
His goal came in the 63rd minute against a resolute Hertha Berlin side that finished the game with ten men.
Coman’s injury was confirmed by Bayern Munich later on Saturday.
The young French winger featured for Bayern in the first leg clash with Liverpool but his participation in the second leg is now in serious doubt.
