Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic will stay at the club beyond this summer according to his agent Arturo Canales who was reacting to transfer rumours linking him with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea.
Earlier transfer reports had claimed that the Blues are eyeing a summer move for the Croatian international star as a possible replacement for Cesc Fabregas who joined French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco during the winter transfer window.
Canales spoke about his client during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport as he said that it would be difficult for Rakitic to leave Spain in the summer.
Croatian World Cup star Ivan Rakitic had earlier addressed rumours linking him with an exit from Barcelona last week.
Speaking after Barcelona knocked out Sevilla in the last eight of the Spanish Copa Del Rey a week ago, Ivan Rakitic revealed his desire to stay with the Nou Camp giants.
Apart from Chelsea, the 30-year-old has been linked with other major European clubs like Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
His future at Barcelona has been under intense discussion following the transfer of Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Frenkie De Jong.
The young Dutch midfielder will join his new teammates at Barcelona this summer.
