Chelsea want Nicolas Acevedo tagged ‘New Lucas Torreira’

Chelsea are eyeing a possible swoop for Uruguay youngster Nicolas Acevedo as they have sent their scouts to keep close watch on the South American star.

Uruguay are up against Argentina at the ongoing South American U-20 championship, so the scouts will have better opportunities to give a critical assessment of his qualities.

The youngster is the star of the tournament and he has been dubbed the ‘new Lucas Torreira’ because he shares the same playing style with his compatriot who plays for Arsenal.

Despite his comparison with the Gunners ace, Acevedo believes he has the same qualities with Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and he models his play around the Frenchman’s style.

The 19-year-old might have the opportunity to feature alongside his hero in the nearest future, should he join the Blues this season which can only happen if Sarri beat numerous rivals to his signature.

According to the Sun, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are also said to have sent their representatives to the ongoing youth tournament to keep close watch on the youngster.

The four clubs are desperate to bolster their youth setup and they want to add Acevedo to their respective sides.

In other Chelsea transfer news, Danny Drinkwater and Alvaro Morata may complete their respective loan deals before Tuesday, that’s according to Liverpool Echo.

The Blues are reportedly in Fenerbahce over the possibility of loaning Drinkwater, while Morata is believed to have completed his medical with Atletico Madrid on Friday.

Drinkwater didn’t get a chance to feature in any game played so far by the Blues, while Morata failed to take his chances after missing many goalscoring opportunities in the games he played.
