Premier League giants Chelsea have revived their interest in Italian Serie A striker Gonzalo Higuain ahead of the upcoming transfer window scheduled to start in eleven days time.
The Juventus loanee is on a season-long loan deal at seven-time European champions AC Milan at the moment.
AC Milan paid €18 (£16.3m) for the loan deal with the option of making it permanent for €36m (£33m).
Gonzalo Higuain, 31, has struggled to perform for Milan on a consistent basis after a great start to his career at the San Siro.
The Argentine international striker scored six goals in his first seven appearances but he has been able to find the back of the net just once in the last ten games for AC Milan in all competitions.
Earlier media reports claimed that AC Milan won’t make the loan deal permanent thus opening up the possibility of him joining Chelsea.
Sky Italia claim that new Blues manager Maurizio Sarri has told the club to sign Higuain as a replacement for the misfiring Alvaro Morata who has been able to score just seven goals in 21 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions.
Chelsea could buy out the remainder of Higuain’s loan contract at AC Milan with an option to buy permanently in the summer with Morata going the other way in a similar deal.
