January or not, are Liverpool good enough for the EPL glory?

Isn’t it surprising that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hoping to sign new players in January after spending £175m before the start of the season?

The Reds were one of the free-spending teams during the summer transfer window as they make sure there are at least two players for each position.

Xherdan Shaqiri, Fabinho are yet to feature regularly for the team as a result of intense competition among the players for a place in the starting lineup.

Having such quality and reliable players on the substitute bench speaks volume about the quality and depth of the team.

In defense, the former Borussia Dortmund manager has gotten a very strong lineup.

Alisson Becker isn’t just expensive financially, he’s equally expensive in terms of quality, organization, and discipline. He has been able to coordinate his defenders without much stress.

Young defenders — Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez– have both risen up to the task of playing for a great club of Liverpool’s calibre.

They have been able to create a good and morale-boosting understanding with experience defenders in the person of Virgil Van Dijk and Andrew Robertson.

It will be a waste of money for Klopp to spend on any defender in January knowing well that Joel Matip, who was wonderful throughout last season, Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno are under-used so far this season.

Though Fabinho and Shaqiri were named in Klopp’s starting XI in their 2-0 victory against Fulham last week, both players aren’t certain of keeping their place in the team when the League return after the upcoming international break.

Liverpool’s midfield consists of top stars who are capable of creating chances and also scoring goals for fun.

Summer signing Naby Keita need no introduction, he already had some breath-taking performances with the Reds in the early part of the campaign.

Legendary midfield James Milner might be getting old but his ability to score goals from tight angles and also to influence big games continue to get better and better.

Despite all of his wonderful outings this season, the England international hasn’t cemented a place among Klopp’s untouchables and he was left on the bench against the Craven Cottagers on Sunday.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana are out of the team’s first eleven, signifying that the quality of players at Klopp’s disposal is quite impressive and interesting.

The Anfield outfits didn’t really need to add to the midfielders they already possess as any new player could end up being on the fringe part of the team.

Daniel Sturridge continues to find his way back to prominence at Anfield as he looks sharp and in-form. The Englishman had a very rough time two seasons ago but he is back to the player he’s known to be.

Mohammed Salah has equally returned to form after series of uninspiring displays at the start of the season.

The Egyptian forward scored three goals in his last two matches prior to the international break.

Mane is definitely in his prime and he has a great understanding with Salah and Firmino.

Adding another player to the striking position in January could be klopp’s greatest undoing as that could jeopardize the existing chemistry between his strikers.

Conclusively, Liverpool are great and good enough to mount pressure on Manchester City for this season’s Premier League title with or without January signing.
