New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has pinpointed an area where the Blues have to improve in the quest to challenge for major honours.
The 59-year-old talked about his team’s weakness while he was fielding questions from reporters during his presser on Friday ahead of the upcoming London Derby clash in the Premier League.
According to him, his team must improve defensively to be able to compete for major honours and that his players’ ball recovery rate need to increase.
The former Empoli and Napoli boss also explained that Chelsea have been able to get away with a lot of things defensively in the new campaign due to their attacking superiority over opponents.
Maurizio Sarri couldn’t have wished for a better start after he became the first Chelsea manager to go through the first ten games of a Premier League season without defeat.
The record was set after the Blues thrashed Burnley 4-0 on Sunday courtesy goals from Alvaro Morata, Ross Barkley, Willian and substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek who replaced Spanish international forward Pedro Rodriguez.
Pedro sustained an injury after thirty minutes of the game against the Clarets and that led to him being replaced by the England international midfielder.
His strike made it four goals in just two games within three days.
