According to reports, Chelsea are set to fight London rivals Arsenal to get Man Utd‘s shot-stopper Dean Henderson on a free transfer next summer.
Henderson’s current deal with Man United will get expired next summer, and talks over signing a new contract at the club have stalled.
The 20-year-old is presently on loan at Shrewsbury and has been impressive at the club.
Despite being a superb goalkeeper, Dean’s first-team chances at Old Trafford was blocked by the duo of David De Gea and Sergio Romero, who are obviously more experienced than he is.
Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are understood to have expressed their interest in the goalie, and premier league champions Chelsea have now joined in the race for the keeper’s signature (via the Mirror).
Dean was part of the England U-20 side at the World Cup last year, and it is understood that Manchester United have asked him to remain with them.
However, it was said that the two London sides could provide him with a better chance of breaking into the first-team squad, which might make him consider leaving Old Trafford.
It was also added that other English clubs including West Brom, Southampton and Watford are also keeping tabs on him, Jose Mourinho’s side would be paid a compensation fee should the youngster leave Old Trafford on a free transfer.
