And in a new development, there are reports (via France Football) that premier league side Crystal Palace have submitted a bid in the region of £26m for the talented star.
Liverpool are ready to sell the France international this summer as he is deemed surplus to requirements in Jurgen Klopp’s team. The strong defender had a fallout with the German boss during their preseason outing last summer and is not seen as part of the first-team picture at Anfield.
He was sent to Crystal Palace on loan last season where he impressed with the limited time granted him. The eagles are now eager to re-sign him on a permanent basis after helping them escape relegation last term.
The Merseyside club have tried to stand firm on their £30m asking price for the player and have rejected loan offers from Palace and Inter Milan earlier in the window.
It was also said that the player himself has turned down a move to West Brom and is determined to return to Palace where he is guaranteed of regular football and will hope his current side will receive the £26m being offered for him.
