Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed Arsenal’s offer for Alexandre Lacazette.
The French forward has been tipped to leave the Ligue 1 this summer after several windows of transfer speculation, linking him with a move away from Lyon.
The 26-year-old has made clear his intentions to leave this summer, with suggestions that he wants to play a bigger club.
Arsenal have linked with a move for Lacazette in previous windows with reports that Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of the striker’s qualities and even tried to sign last summer but failed in his £29million offer for him last summer.
Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid were said to be closing in on an audacious move for Lacazette earlier this summer but the move crashed after their transfer ban that restricts them from signing any player till next January transfer window.
Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger is believed to have returned to Lyon with an offer for the 26-year-old and even met with the club president over a potential move this summer.
Aulas has now confirmed the Gunners’ approach for the striker, he said during a Q&A session: ‘Lacazette was told he could leave,
‘We now have a very nice offer from Arsenal. But for us he will not leave.’
