Chelsea Legend Replies When Asked If Current Midfielder Will Be Better Than Him At Chelsea

Claude Makelele has shown he is a big admirer of Chelsea’s summer signing N’Golo Kante

Chelsea former player Claude Makelele is hoping that summer signing N’Golo Kante can go on to have a more successful career than he did following Kante’s brilliant form for Chelsea this season.

Since arriving Stamford Bridge from Leicester City last summer, the French midfielder has earned lots of praise for his splendid performances for the west London side this season.

Last season, Kante was one of Leicester’s standout performers as he helped  Claudio Ranieri’s side win the Premier League title.

He has continued his brilliant displays for the blues this term to help Antonio Conte’s side build a 10-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The midfielder has recently earned comparisons to Chelsea legend Makelele following his unique displays.

And Makelele, who is currently the assistant boss at Swansea City, has stated that he his a huge admirer of the summer Chelsea signing.

“What I like about him is that he is very generous.

“He plays with a smile on his face, and that is an exceptional quality.

“I really hope he has a better career than mine, but he still needs that leadership.

“That doesn’t mean be a captain, but to have an aura within the team that when they look at him, they think ‘We are going to win’ or when he speaks to them, they go ‘You’re right.’

“When he has that aura, he will be an exceptional player.

“That is when he’ll become a regular for France.” Makelele told SFR Sport
