No Need To Sign Payet, This Arsenal Player Can Be Like Him – Legend

When news emerged on the media about West Ham striker Dimitri Payet possible move to Arsenal, of course, many arsenal fans want it in reality.

Payet is a superb talent and would be an upgrade on the likes of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Unfortunately, speaking ahead of Sunday’s game against Burnley, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger ruled out a move for his countryman. Wenger said he doesn’t need Payet because he have so many creative players.

“No. We have [many] players offensively who can play in this position. You are interested by [the] quality of the player but there needs to be a need as well, and we have no need in this domain.” the French boss said

Though Wenger’s comment might not make some fans happy, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes Arsenal have a player capable of becoming ‘the next Payet’.

Henry in an interview with Sky Sports was asked whether he would take Payet at the Emirates Stadium. He also insisted that Payet won’t be needed, and additionally added that he believes Alex Iwobi could be just as good. He felt Iwobi needs games to fulfil his potential at the North London club and signing a player like Payet could limit Iwobi’s playing time- which could spell doom for his development.

“I don’t think Arsenal need a player like Payet at the moment “”They have Iwobi who could be like Payet in a few years’ time, and he has been good for Arsenal playing through the middle.” he said.

The Nigerian international, since coming into the scene in 2015, keeps going from strength to strength and eventually become an integral member of Arsenal’s squad.

This season so far, in 17 Premier League appearances, he has scored two goals and provided three assists. Nevertheless, he offers a lot going forward with his pace, skill and creativity.
