Arsenal are currently busy securing new contracts with some of their star players. New deals had been agreed with Coquelin, Giroud and Koscielny, and now reports suggest that Per Mertesacker has also agreed a deal with the Gunners.
Since the start of this season, the veteran defender has been hindered from action by injuries. Nevertheless, coach Arsene Wenger is of the opinion that Mertesacker is an important figure.
Some days ago, the Mirror published a report where the French coach insisted that he wants to extend the contracts of Cazorla and Mertesacker. The Times have presently claimed that the 32-year-old defender has finally agreed a one year extension.
He has featured in over 200 games for Arsenal and takes home £70,000 each week. The Times additionally added that he was offered the same weekly wage to extend his contract and now he has done that.
in the twist of things though, it was also projected that Wenger may consider loaning Per out for the rest of the season since he is not going to feature much.
He has been a key central defender for the North London club in the past few years and we wish the German international well in his endeavours.
