Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has described the situation as rubbish transfer reports linking the club with a move for Arsenal and English winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with just 18 months left on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Mainz 05 boss shut down rumours when he was asked during his latest press conference ahead of the mammoth clash with Manchester City on New Year Day’s eve (Saturday, December 31, 2017). In his words as reported by RTE Sport, Klopp said: “I don’t usually say anything about transfer rumours but I can make an exception. Nonsense.”

“This kind of thing I think a lot about but I say nothing because it is really not interesting what I think about this.

“You (the media) are already on a path so do with it what you want but from our side nothing else to say about it.” he further stated.

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is presently out of action with a minor knock, has reportedly grown frustrated with a lack of playing time at the North London side this season having completed 90 minutes on just three occasions. To this effect, he has been linked with other league title rivals like Manchester City and recently Liverpool thereby prompting Klopp’s response.
