Reports claim that the injury of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez may not be that serious as initially thought. It is believed that the Chilean has told friends that his injury is not that bad and he will be fit for the next world cup qualifier next Tuesday against Uruguay.
Sanchez picked a low-grade muscle tear in his calf while on International duty with Chile and there were a lot of speculations claiming that the player could be out for several weeks.
Now the manager of Chile Juan Antonio Pizzi has confirmed that the injury of Sanchez is not that serious after it was initially feared that the forward could be out for about six weeks.
Speaking at the press conference ahead of Chile’s world cup qualifier against Colombia on Thursday, Pizzi revealed that Sanchez will miss the game against Colombia but should be fit to play against Uruguay next week.
According to Express, Pizzi revealed “We expected to count on Alexis Sanchez, but he suffered a small injury yesterday and cannot be considered for tomorrow. Alexis Sanchez’s injury is minor. Let’s hope he can be fit to play against Uruguay.
The forward also agreed with his manager that his injury was a minor one when he spoke to Chilean publication El Mercurio. He said “it is hurting a bit but I’m fine. I’ll be back for Tuesday,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez has been in super form for Arsenal this season and has scored 13 goals in all competitions and could play against Manchester United after the International break.
