Five-time European champions Liverpool have a big battle on their hands if they want to win the race to sign young defender Sebastian Walukiewicz when the transfer window reopens in six weeks’ time.
According to the report from the Daily Express, the Reds are not the only club interested in the 18-year-old centre back who has impressed a great deal in the Polish top flight this season.
Fellow Premier League title contenders Arsenal and Spanish champions Barcelona are also interested in the Polish junior international.
The interest of Liverpool in the youngster was confirmed by Munro Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar.
Walukiewicz plays for Ekstraklasa side Pogon Szczecin at the moment and he has already featured 13 times for the team in the first division of Polish football.
He’s certainly one for the future if the Reds could win the race to sign him ahead of Arsenal and Barcelona.
The likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip would still be in front of him in the pecking order though he might be a direct replacement for Cameroonian international Matip who has been linked with a move away from Anfield.
Premier League strugglers Fulham are said to be interested in a move to sign him in the New Year.
