Premier League giants Chelsea are the latest club to show an interest in AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo if reports in the Italian media are anything to go by.
Italian media portal Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Blues have joined the race for the highly rated Italian junior international midfielder.
Nicolo Zaniolo has been in very good form for AS Roma since he joined the Italian capital club from rivals Inter Milan in a cash-plus-player deal which saw Belgian international Radja Nainggolan move in the other direction.
The young midfielder has scored three goals in 13 appearances for AS Roma in the Italian Serie A in addition to four more outings for the Italian u-21 national team.
He’s valued at €40m by his club but that could increase with AS Roma keen to offer him a new five-year contract that will secure his long-term future at the Stadio Olimpico.
Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid and Italian champions Juventus have been monitoring his situation at the capital club before the Blues registered their interest in the player.
Chelsea are lighter in midfield following the exit of experienced Spanish international Cesc Fabregas to Monaco during the just concluded winter transfer window and Nicolo Zaniolo could be the perfect replacement for him.
