With the contract of some of the Manchester United players running into the last year, manager Jose Mourinho has named those he wants at the club and kept mute on others.
Left-back Luke Shaw, converted full-back Ashley Young and midfielders Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata’s current deals expire in the summer of 2019.
All of the players will be ready by January 1 to speak with interested clubs over a free transfer later at the end of the season.
But in his plan to ensure some of the players remain, Mourinho is reported to have left Martial out of the list by naming only Shaw, Young, Herrera and Mata as players whose contract should be extended with long-term deals.
David De Gea also runs in his last year but Mourinho has since made it clear that the player will be handed a new deal and would be remaining at the club.
It is, however, not clear why Mourinho failed to mention French striker, Martial who is also due for a new deal at the club.
The player has been speculated to be on the move out of the club over Mourinho’s lack of interest in him and this development could be a confirmation of his stand.
