Five-time European champions Liverpool will have to see off the competition of fellow Premier League side Southampton in their quest to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross.
The Daily Express claim that new Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl wants to boost the Saints squad with the 27-year-old German.
Pascal Gross was one of the stars of the Premier League in the last campaign and Liverpool were previously linked with a £15m transfer for him.
He scored seven goals and provided eight assists in all competitions for Brighton last season as he helped the Seagulls escape relegation from the Premier League.
It was the debut season for Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.
Pascal Gross has not had the same effect in the new season due to injuries which have restricted him to just nine appearances.
Liverpool boosted their midfield in the summer with the trio of Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xerdan Shaqiri but manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be keen on strengthening his team further with the aforementioned Pascal Gross.
The midfield additions have propelled the Reds to the top of the Premier League table in addition to securing a spot in the first knockout stage of the Champions League.
