Bayern Munich star winger Arjen Robben has confessed that he was close to joining English Premier League side Manchester United in 2004 but a deal failed to go through.
According to Arjen Robben, he had a meeting with former Red Devils boss and legend Alex Ferguson over a dinner as well as going to the Old Trafford stadium to access the field but noted that he returned without anything happening.
The 34-year-old hinted that he was desperate to sign a deal with the club having stated that should United had come with a deal for him, he would have given his obvious nod but that never happened because he heard no word from the former boss again.
Arjen Robben stated that he had no choice than to move to the West London side Chelsea after they had good talks with PSV as well as telling him of their plans for him which was good.
It would be recalled that Arjen Robben joined the Blues in 2004 where he won two consecutive English Premier League title.
There is no doubt that Arjen Robben is one of the best wingers who is highly rated but is argued to be limited by his one foot.
