Diego Costa is expected to leave Stamford Bridge any moment from now, and his Chelsea teammate Willian has admitted that he is sad seeing the Spaniard leave the club.
The former Atletico Madrid forward scored 20 Premier League goals last term to help Antonio Conte win the premier league title in his first season at Chelsea and in England.
Still yet, the Italian tactician told him via text at the end of last season that he is not part of his plans at the club for the new season and that he is free to leave west London.
Costa is yet to find a new club but is however said to be closing in on a return to his former Spanish club in Madrid.
Chelsea have seen up to nine players departing Stamford Bridge this summer, with the latest being Nemanja Matic to Manchester United. Even though the Serbian midfielder played a crucial role in the west London club’s premier league triumph last season, he was allowed to go to Old Trafford to reunite with his former manager Jose Mourinho in a deal worth £40million.
Willian was not given lots of opportunities last season at Stamford Bridge, but he chose to remain with the club despite being linked with Man United towards the end of last season.
And speaking recently about his departing teammate Costa, Willian told Goal:
‘Everyone knows about his quality, the striker he is, and I am sad because he is leaving,’
