Why United players are biggest losers in Champions League loss

It has been confirmed that Man United and Arsenal will be missing out of the Champions League next season after both teams recorded a 1-1 draw respectively in their games on Sunday.

Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea are now confirmed to represent the English Premier League in the Champions League next season while Arsenal and Man United will play at the Europa League.

This could be the third consecutive year that the Gunners team will be missing out of the Champions League if they do not take up their chances of winning the Europa League this season as they are currently playing in the semi-finals.

However, for Man United, it is a different scenario as the club have an existing policy which hunts the players more when they fail to secure qualification into the top-four for a Champions League.

The policy states that the players will be forced to take a pay cut of 255 of their current wage as it was the case when they failed to qualify for the Champions League before Jose Mourinho’s arrival in 2016.

Suggestions are that the fear of a wage cut is the reason why Paul Pogba and David De Gea are pushing for a move away from the club.
