Why Manchester United get £13,700 UEFA fine

Manchester United have been handed a fine of £13,700 after their fans were accused of crowd trouble during their Champions League tie against French Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint Germain in February.

The fans are accused of throwing objects and blocking stairways at the Old Trafford which caused a faceoff with the PSG fans while the French side were also handed a £34,000 fine after allegations of supporters’ misbehaviour as well as setting off of firework and acts of damage at the Old Trafford.

Also, the Ligue 1 giants have been given a period of 30 days to meet with Man United so as to settle the cost of the damage incurred at the Old Trafford for immediate repairs.

The game happened to be the first defeat for interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on February 21. The Red Devils lost by 2-0 and French international midfielder Paul Pogba was sent out of the game with the second leg expected to be played in Paris on March 6.

Before the defeat, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took the Red Devils team through games since December last year when former manager Jose Mourinho was sacked with a number of wins and just a draw. He has been tipped to get the job on a permanent deal.
