West Ham United are reportedly eyeing a loan move for experienced Chelsea defender Gary Cahill ahead of the January transfer window.
According to the publication from popular English media outlet The Sun, the Hammers are ready to take advantage of the news that the Blues would be willing to let the 32-year-old centre back leave Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens in the six weeks time.
The recently retired England international player has been on the fringes of the first team at Chelsea this season under the new managerial reign of Maurizio Sarri.
The former Napoli and Empoli boss replaced compatriot Antonio Conte as the Chelsea manager in the summer after penning a three-year contract.
Gary Cahill was an integral part of the Chelsea team that won the 2016/17 Premier League title and the 2017/18 FA Cup title but his playing status has changed under Sarri.
He has barely featured for the Blues this season especially in the Premier League.
Cahill has played just 21 minutes of league football in the new campaign.
He has made just five appearances for his team this season with the majority coming in the cup competitions (Europa League and the Carabao Cup).
