Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has apologised for the Champions League elimination at the hands of Premier League title challengers Liverpool.
Suarez faced his former club at Anfield for the first time since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2014 but the reunion didn’t end well for him and his teammates after they lost a three-goal lead to crash out of the Champions League at the semifinal stage.
After the game, Luis Suarez spoke to reporters via Goal as he apologised to the club, their families and the Barcelona fans after the Liverpool horror show.
According to him, the players have to shoulder the blame for letting a three-goal advantage slip again for the second consecutive season.
Luis Suarez and Barcelona lost 4-0 to the Reds at Anfield in their Champions League semifinal second leg clash having won the first leg 3-0 at the Nou Camp last week Wednesday.
Despite the absence of star forwards Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi, Liverpool were able to pull off the miraculous comeback with two goals apiece from Belgian international striker Divock Origi and Dutch player Georginio Wijnaldum who came off the bench at the start of the second half to score a second goal.
Liverpool will now face either Ajax Amsterdam or Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019 Champions League final in Madrid in June.
