Arsenal Under 23 trio of Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, and Josh Dasilva all played for the senior team for the Gunners on Wednesday, and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the trio have learned about the intensity of senior team football and how there’s no room to make mistakes.
The three players made the step-up from Under 23 level to feature in the Carabao Cup match against Doncaster Rovers.
Reiss Nelson was handed his first senior start for the North London club, having played his first match from the bench against German Bundesliga side Fc Cologne in the UEFA Europa League, while Joe Willock and Josh Dasilva played their first match as a second-half substitute against Doncaster Rovers.
The Gunners made hard work of the match, with the starlets struggling to stamp their feet on the League 1 team. Speaking to newsmen after the match, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger explained how the young talents could learn from the display against Doncaster.
The French tactician stated that the match was more challenging for the youngsters as they were all played out of position.
That the youngsters made some errors should not be a surprise in my candid opinion. The three starlets will now be looking forward to facing Norwich City in the fourth round of the competition.
