Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney cannot wait to go into a full management role after retiring from active football.

The former England international has seen Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard who are now into management as his role models.

The England’s all-time leading scorer is on the verge of securing a UEFA B coaching licence despite still in active football.

He has hinted on acquiring the needed coaching badges before concluding playing career at the MLS for DC United.

With his contract with the Washington club expiring by 2022, Rooney, the former Everton striker is already preparing for life after retirement, which will mark the end of 16 years of professional football.

He said even after retirement, he will not be able to do away football because that is all he has known.

He expressed surprise at other footballers who walk away from football after spending a large part of their years in the game.

Rooney says he draws inspiration from football legends, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard who are now into management football.

He urged young English football managers to step up to the big stage to take over all the football clubs in the league.

Rooney has had a spell in England with Manchester United and Everton before his move to the United States.
